A nanny's primary duty is to ensure the child under their care is supervised at all times in a safe environment. A nanny will organise activities such as play dates, educational outings, social events, and any hobbies or interests the child may have, and assist with taking them to these events. It is often expected of a nanny to undertake all domestic tasks relating to the care of the child such as: washing and ironing the children’s clothes, tidying and cleaning up after them and preparing healthy and nutritionally balanced meals, however, sometimes families have separate staff employed to do this. Some families have a set schedule that they wish the nanny to follow and others prefer the nanny to take responsibility for arranging the child’s day.
At Edith Beaumont Nannies we encourage all our nannies to promote educational learning within the home, through activities such as singing, reading, work sheets, and fun educational classes, (depending on their age) to promote developmental growth. We also provide educational work sheets that are emailed directly to your nanny weekly and a detailed information pack on local education groups in your particular area.
A live in nanny will require their own bedroom, and is not expected to contribute towards any living costs such as household bills, council tax or food. A nanny's pay will depend on their experience, level of qualifications, and the number and ages of the children to be cared for. As we only provide very high calibre nannies we advise pay in the region of a minimum of £450 per week for a live-in nanny and £550 for a live-out.
Some Families require Nannies to also assist with domestic chores such as; cooking, ironing, washing, cleaning and tidying the family residence, food shopping, walking the dog, and running errands (e.g. collecting dry cleaning). As the housekeeping part of the job takes up a substantial amount of the nanny's time it is recommended that a nanny/housekeeper should only be employed in households where all the children are at school during the day, or if there is additional child care assistance (e.g. 2 nannies, or if one parent is at home).
